History of ToC
The Foothills Tournament of Champions debuted in 2019 as a collaborative effort between the Easley High School and Pickens High School bands.
To honor the legacies of two distinguished directors, the Grand Champion Trophy was dedicated to longtime Easley High School band director Barry Reese, while the Overall High Visual Trophy was named in recognition of longtime Pickens High School director David Cudd.

Lane Cigar Box Guitars
Oliva 135th Anniversary "Calesa"
Inspired by "classy yet stripped-down" legendary electric guitars like the Esquire and the Les Paul Junior, I wanted to create a simple, straightforward workhorse guitar using one of my upcycled Oliva 135th Anniversary wooden cigar boxes. Loaded with a single humbucker electric pickup along with the passive piezo hidden pickup under the lid, each with its own volume control, allowing both contemporary electric guitar versatility AND traditional, raw amplified acoustic tones from the piezo, with the option to blend them for unique combinations of sounds (NOTE: watch the volume and/or overdrive when the piezo is turned up, it will bark at you!). The Calesa has the standard 25.5" scale, toploading hardtail bridge and is a basic, no-frills, no-nonsense version of my favorite box that I myself use for my personal builds. The neck joint is fully clear of the box, so unlike other CBG designs, you can actually reach all 22 frets on this instrument. What's more to say? It rocks. It rolls. It gets the job done and looks cool doing it. You'll stand out among your guitar playing peers when you whip out a fully-functioning piece of playable folk art! Included economy gig bag.
